Where do you like your Dhai ki Chutney?

Written 6/12/05..and very dear to my heart because its about food

I have seen a mistake made at multiple parties which can completely ruin the event, well basicallly the food eating part of the event which makes up about 90% of the party anyways.
Please people, if you have servers who are not of the South Asian descent, make sure you tell them to PUT THE DHAI KI CHUTNEY ( raita for the pakistanis) AFTER THE BIRYANI.
This may be a small issue for some people, but for a majority of those in line getting food, this poses a very large problem.
As most of us know, dhai ki chutney is traditionally put on top of the biryani as to get a consistent amount evenly spread across each chawal ka daana. Now when the dhai ki chutney is placed before the biryani, u have three types of appliers. The first ones are the ones who don’t care about where it goes. They mix it in with their salad and happily go along there way. Well those people don’t usually exist. The second type get all their food and then come back to the beginning and disrupt those who are in the middle of taking their food by saying “zera please thora dhai ki chutney daldethay??”…and then there are those who take there chawal and pull a “lean back” and delay the line as they quickly try to put the dhai ki chutney on their biryani. That is a movement BACK on the buffet line which is not suppose to happen. And with women, it is even worse cuz then you have dupattas going in mirchi ka saalans and eeveryone gets pissy, all because the dhai ki chutney was put before the biryani.
So please, next time you plan to throw a party, make sure you go up to the buffet during the party and put the dhai ki chutney at the end of the line. Only that will ensure a pleasant dining experience at ur next Bismillah, Shaadi, or Aqeekah..
